A random collection of interesting things

Michael was more likely to break through his attackers with power and strength, while Kobe often tries to finesse his way through mass pileups. Michael was stronger, with bigger shoulders and a sturdier frame. He also had large hands that allowed him to control the ball better and make subtle fakes. Jordan was also more naturally inclined to let the game come to him and not overplay his hand, whereas Kobe tends to force the action, especially when the game isn’t going his way. When his shot is off, Kobe will pound away relentlessly until his luck turns. Michael, on the other hand, would shift his attention to defense or passing or setting screens to help the team win the game

—Phil Jackson points out the differences, as he sees it, between Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant in an excerpt from his forthcoming book Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success. (via nbaoffseason)

Holi by Variable

We’re calling it now — slowing things down is the new speeding things up. Holi, a.k.a. the Festival of Colors celebrated by Hindus each spring, provides a gorgeous backdrop for this incredible study of the chromatic spectrum. Trust us, you’re gonna want to experience this festival in full screen.

This is just delightful

Kenya launches billion dollar project, “Africa’s Silicon Savannah”

By Monique C. Morgan

President Mwai Kibaki has initiated a 14.5 billion project to build a new city that will be responsible for creating more than 20,000 IT jobs by the year 2015. The city, Konza Technology City, is expected to become an “IT business hub” and utilize the growing number of software developers in East Africa. All political parties agreed to support the President’s project 100% and hope that it will improve Kenya’s infrastructure.

The city will be 5,000 acres and located southeast of Nairobi. The city has much promise and many other establishments including hotels, residential areas, schools, hospitals, and a research/technology based university will be built on the former ranch.

The development of Konza will create employment opportunities for young Kenyans who have dreams of working in the information communications technology sector of the country. Not to mention the project will enhance Kenya, will be a positive attribute to her development, and help Africa to compete internationally.

Really hope this works out for Nairobi!
